Farewell Party
To sum up, we stayed Montreal (Province of Quebec, QC) for one week in the former of this trip and Prince Edward Island (PEI) for one week in the latter of that.
Montreal is the second largest city of Canada. About 70% of inhabitants are Francophones and French is spoken as the first and official language.
Prince Edward Island is the smallest and the only insular province of Canada. Different from Montreal, people mostly speak English. It is famous for seafood and sightseeing.
Every year, the participants have been in Quebec and in PEI, and they reported the two places separately in this website. So, in this time, we report that differently: cross-sectional comparison for the theme below, landscape, transportation, tourism and culinary.
We found Montreal and PEI have good points which are suitable for each characteristic through making this report. Also, we noticed their characteristics derived from their own history, geological condition and these make cities unique and interesting.
Now, globalization has spread around the world and our culture has been more and more same. In fact, we could stay in Montreal as comfortably as in Tokyo or in Yokohama. That's why characteristics of each city are important. For example, we are used to bread meal but bagles which we ate in Montreal were the most delicious one I've ever had. Also, Montreal choose multiculturalism so everyone I met in Montreal can speak English fluently though they speak French as the first language. Cultural diversities seem going to lose, so I think we have to strengthen its differences and change it into city's power.
And special thanks to Professors Ed McDonald, Jim Randall and Heather Rossiter, and McGill Japanese Student Association for helping our stay and giving us lots of useful councils.
